Southampton is located on the shores of Lake Huron in Bruce County, Ontario.  It's primarily a residential community, a retirement destination and a tourist destination in the summer. This area is known for its long sand beaches and beautiful views of the sunset. The fully restored Chantry Island Lighthouse, lightkeeper's cottage and boathouse are located on Chantry Island on Lake Huron about one mile from Southampton. Chantry Island is a Federal Migratory Bird Sanctuary and access is prohibited with the exception of tours to the lighthouse area only. The Harbour Front Range Light at the mouth of the Saugeen River was one of the first designated under the Heritage Lighthouse Protection Act.
